Code of Conduct

Our Mission
To sing together in an atmosphere of support and harmony, with respect and dignity for all members of the choir.

Code of Conduct
  1. Respect Checo and our fellow choir members
  2. Have a positive attitude
  3. Be on time
  4. Learn the lyrics, the music, and the movements
  5. Listen to Checo and to the other singers, even when it is not our time to sing
  6. Promote a safe, harassment-free environment
  7. Remember that we each represent Checo and the other members of our choir
Rehearsal and Performance Decorum
          At all times
  1. No gum while singing
  2. Maintain a scent-free environment

    On Stage

  3. Know the lyrics, the music, and the movements
  4. Focus on Checo throughout the warm-up and performance
  5. No water or song sheets
  6. Do not wave to members of the audience
  7. Remember that the audience can see us between songs
  8. Dress code: Choir shirt, one-colour black or white shoes
           Winter – Black pants or skirt
           Summer – White pants or skirt
  9. Have fun and show it!
Performance Eligibility
Performance eligibility is attained by accumulating points.  Rehearsal attendance is worth 2 points and Workshop attendance is worth 1 point.

To perform in a concert, a member must:

  • accumulate 12 points in the 3 months prior to the performance
  • accumulate 14 points in the 6 months prior to the performance
  • attend every Rehearsal/Workshop in the 3 weeks prior to the performance
A member who feels qualified to perform, but does not meet the eligibility requirements can appeal, in writing, to the Executive Committee (exec@VictoriaSoulGospel.ca).  Appeals will be considered on an individual basis.
